My mother is eligible for 63 days of respite, however we are having trouble extending her time over 21 days at the residential care facility she is in. Are we legally able to extend this to 63 days without feeling pressured.
Hi Lisac4479,
The issue could be that your mother was only booked in for 21 days and that the facility might have booked the room out to someone else after the 21 days. I booked my husband into respite for 4 weeks with the option of getting him out earlier or leaving him longer depending on my needs as I’m recovering from surgery. I don’t know if that’s the issue or not, but it’s probably best to book respite for longer with the option of getting them out earlier, if the care facility will all.
