A son has lived with his parents for over 10 years to help them out, especially the last few years where he helped his father care for his mother, when they didn’t have any carers help at night or weekend. He chose to work while his parents had carers help during the day, so wasn’t eligible for government payments.
Now his father has gone into aged care the son has been told he isn’t classed as a protected person as he earns too much (approx $1280 per week). The house will now have to be sold to pay for his father’s accommodation etc and the son will become homeless as he has nothing against his name and also has a $20k+ debt he is paying off.
Is there anything that can be done so the son can continue to live in the house.
